Angela Estelle
Jackson Dean
Jan 2, 1956 — Jun 6, 2025
Angela Estelle Jackson Dean was born on January 2, 1956, to Lilton and Mary Alice Jackson in Houston, TX. Raised in Six Ward affectionately known as "Chocolate City". Angela accepted Christ at an early age and was christened at Brown Chapel AME church as an infant.
As a native Houstonian from Sixth Ward, Angela attended elementary and junior high at Harper School and then went on to attend Booker T. Washington High School the joy of her education experience- Go Eagles!!
While at Booker T. Washington, she blossomed like a beautiful flower, she bled blue and gold. She was the captain of the cheerleading squad, a member of Les Petite Debutante Social Club, and the yearbook team, graduating class of 1974. And she remained an active member of the Booker T. Washington Alumni.
While attending Harper School Angela met her schoolgirl's crush and love of her life, Ricky Raythone Dean. They were bonded together for over 60 years and united in holy matrimony for 45 years. To this union two handsome sons were born, Ricky Dean II and DeTorian Dean. All who knew her understood that her family was truly the joy of her existence.
Angie, as many of us affectionately called her, went on to attend the Art Institute where she received her certification in fashion design. She was a fashion queen, known for her eccentric style. Angie retired from the University of Houston in 2016 after 30 years of service in Human Resources and was also the co-founder of Tastez With a Touch of Class Catering Service, along with her sister Patricia.
Angie was passionate about her family, cooking, and she enjoyed dancing and listening to good music. She always had a radio on in the kitchen as she prepared delicious meals and made the house sparkle. Angie enjoyed life, especially with her community of family and friends that grew up together in Six Ward and her classmates from BTW class of 1974. Celebrating her family and friends is what she did and loved. And don't forget about the sports. Being that she was a mom of two sons and a husband she enjoyed spending time with her family watching and, in her mind, coaching sports from the comfort of her home.
Angie was the cornerstone of many friendships. Her fun personality and caring spirit attracted close friends from all walks of life. She will be missed from our lives, but she will forever remain in our hearts.
Angie was a faithful member of The Refreshing Church for 20 years under the leadership of Pastor John Anderson Murray. A member of the Outreach Auxiliary and the Blue Team where she served until her health failed. She found joy in serving in the church preparing meal and providing comfort to her church family and others.
Angie's belief and love for the Lord Jesus have carried her over to a peaceful resting place in her Father's arms, with no more sorrow, suffering, or pain.
