Obituary

Heaven smiled again on the evening of June 20, 2024, when God called two of HIS beloved children home to be with HIM - Angela and Mason Stewart.

Angela Juanita Stewart was born to the late Helen Faye Grant and William J. Adams on July 5, 1971, in Jasper, Texas. Angela grew up in a nurturing Christian environment and accepted the Lord at an early age. She was baptized at West Chapel Baptist Church in the Sharpville Community of Newton, Texas. She was an active member during her youth until moving away to pursue a formal education. She attended and joined The Fountain of Praise Church in Houston, TX on May 21, 2006.

Angela attended Burkeville Elementary School, Junior High School, and graduated from Burkeville High School in 1989. She graduated from Texas Southern University - Houston, TX with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1996 and received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A & M University, Prairie View, TX in December 2004.

Angela gave birth to Morgan D'Angela Sims on February 6, 1997. She met the love of her life, Rodney Donnell Stewart, and they were united in marriage on November 18, 2006. Angela gained a daughter, Brooklyn Elise Stewart. God blessed their union with Mason Grant Stewart on June 20, 2008. Angela was a loving mother and wife.

Angela's professional life was dedicated to education with Houston Independent School District for twenty-eight years. She was a 3rd grade teacher for several years before fulfilling her true passion as an elementary school counselor. Angela touched the lives of many children during her teaching career at J. P. Cornelius Elementary and Montgomery Elementary. She began her counseling career at Jean Hines Caldwell Elementary and Jenard Gross Elementary. Her students found her to be unfailingly fair and loving and held them to the same standards of excellence she set for herself.

Angela was affiliated with "Wives On the Road to Destiny" receiving the "Wife of the Year" Award and 2nd Place for "Best Fellowship Attendance" in 2023. She was also a member of GirlTrek-Houston walking group. Angela enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working out, traveling, and found a new love for gardening. She will be remembered for hosting family gatherings, being a dedicated and supportive mother, encouraging words of wisdom, and a beacon of light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Helen Faye Grant and William J. Adams; grandmother, Mabel Twine; uncle, Wayne Twine; and brother-in-law, Reginald (Veronica) Stewart.

Angela leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Rodney Donnell Stewart; daughters, Morgan D'Angela Sims and Brooklyn Elise Stewart; brother, Gregory (Dimona) Grant of Jasper, TX; uncle, Harry Twine of Houston, TX; aunts, Orthala Gray of San Jose, CA; and Brenda Brown of Richmond, TX; mother-in-law, Norma D. Stewart- Harrell; sisters-in-law, Falonia (Samuel Sr.) Amos, Latoya (Nii Anyetei) Adjei, and Sherry Bolden; brother-in-law, Raymond (Susan) Stewart; and special nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of relatives, friends, church family, co-workers, neighbors, students, and fellow organization members.
