Anna Louise
Simmons
Sep 4, 1945 — Jul 12, 2024
Anna Louise Cook was born on September 4, 1945, in Houston, Texas, the cherished only child of Hazel and Jessie Cook. Growing up in Houston, she attended school and found solace in the warmth of her local church community. In 1974, she entered into marriage with John M. Simmons, marking a new chapter in her life.
Anna was a beacon of love and devotion to her three beloved children, whom she held dear in her heart. Her role as a mother was complemented by her joyous embrace of grandmotherhood and great grandmotherhood, roles she fulfilled with boundless affection. Her mother, Hazel, was not just family but also her cherished companion, with whom she shared precious moments and travels, creating memories that were sweet and enduring.
Beyond her family life, Anna found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an enthusiastic cook whose meals were infused with love, a dedicated shopper with an eye for beauty, a music enthusiast who found melodies to uplift her spirit, and a decorator who crafted a home that radiated warmth and charm. Her collection of porcelain pieces was a testament to her appreciation for art and craftsmanship. Professionally, Anna was self-employed for many fruitful decades before eventually retiring.
Known fondly to most as "Louise," she was a person who exuded positivity. Her smile was infectious, and her cheerful spirit lit up every room she entered.
On July 12, 2024, Anna Louise Cook Simmons bid farewell to this life, preceded by her parents and grandson, Desmond Cook. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by her three children: Debra Moshay (Kenneth), Johnny Fletcher (Blanca), and Tina Lavone Lay, all residents of Houston, Texas. Her grandchildren, DeMarcus Cook, Julian Fletcher, Devonte Fletcher, Ethan Fletcher, and Nathan Fletcher, along with great granddaughter Baileigh Threat, will forever hold her close in their hearts. Anna also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing dearly, remembering her as a beloved presence in their lives.
