Anner Muril Hogan Jones, born on December 19, 1946 to Leon Hogan and Niza Hogan in Shreveport Louisiana. Anner was the second of three children and while a small child, her parents relocated to Houston, Texas.
Anner graduated from Kashmere High School, class of 1965 where she was a member of the “Mighty Rams” Band. While she was passionate about being in the band, she was even more passionate about her academic studies. She graduated at the top of her class earning many distinctive honors. After graduating from High School, she continued her education by attending the University of Houston studying Political Science while working full time with the Forward Times Newspaper. She married her soul mate, the love of her life, C.H. Jones, March 1, 1969, and their love story continued until her death.
At an early age, Anner dedicated her life to Christ. She was a faithful member of Gospel Hill Baptist Church under the Leadership of Pastor Robert M. Hobley before branching out to explore career opportunities. She had a long and successful career in the insurance industry, living and traveling to the majority of the fifty states. Upon her return to Houston, Texas she joined Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the Leadership of Pastor Darryl La Bat Sr., where she remained an active member and servant till her departure from this life.
Anner was known for her quick wit, unfiltered honesty, strength, wisdom, and unwavering faith. She worked tirelessly in the church touching the lives of many through her encouraging words, caring heart and willingness to serve wherever needed. Her presence brought comfort and her life was a testimony of grace and devotion to God. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory, her devoted husband of fifty seven years, C.H. Jones, her nieces, Seandra Hogan, Stacie Hogan (Robert), Tamora Hogan, Rochelle Manuel (Terrance), her nephews, Roderick See (Kimberly), Rashad See (Elizabeth) her two sisters-in-law, Linda Hogan Cannon, and Denise Hogan, her great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, church family, and countless friends.
Although our hearts are heavy, her love and legacy will continue through those she held dear. She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Hogan Sr., her mother, Niza Hogan, her brother, Leon Hogan Jr. and Ruben Hogan.
