Obituary

Annette Marie Davis Thomas was born on February 22, 1959, to Melvina Moore (Alimon) and Edester Davis. She spent her early years in Alexandria, Louisiana, where her childhood was filled with the warmth and love of her family. At the tender age of nine, Annette was baptized by Reverend Samuel L. Buckner in an outside baptismal well, marking the beginning of her lifelong devotion to her faith. She later joined Bethel A. M. E. Church on Jones Avenue in Alexandria, Louisiana under the guidance of the late Reverend G. R. Haughton.

Annette's mother, Melvina Alimon, and her stepfather, Joseph Alimon, provided a stable and nurturing home environment for her when they purchased a residence in the Acadian Village subdivision of Alexandria, Louisiana. Annette lived there until she married the love of her life, Mr. Willie Thomas, Jr., on June 25, 1977. The couple moved to Houston, Texas, immediately after their marriage and began building a beautiful life together.

Willie and Annette brought three wonderful sons into the world: Melvin Lee Thomas, Anthony Dewayne Thomas (Kyra), and Erick Gerard Thomas, all of Houston, Texas. Their family thrived on love, unity, and strength until Willie's untimely passing on August 2, 2020. Annette remained a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her family.

For most of her life, Annette was a dedicated stay-at-home mom, particularly due to the chronic illness of her son Melvin. Once Melvin's health stabilized, Annette began volunteering at Hobby Elementary in Houston, Texas. Her dedication and compassion for children led her to join the faculty of Hobby Elementary as a certified Instructional Aide, where she served until her retirement.

Throughout her lifetime in Houston, Annette was an active member of Pisidia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R. R. Hartwell. She later continued her spiritual journey under the guidance of Reverend Albert Walker Jr., remaining steadfast in her faith and dedication to her Savior Jesus Christ until her death.

Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Thomas Jr.; her parents, Melvina and Joseph Alimon; her in-laws, Beverly Thomas, Marvin Thomas, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cannon; her grandmother, Eula May Keller; her aunt and uncle, Flora Lee and Earl Lee Breland; her brother, George C. Nelson; and a host of other loved ones who departed this life before her.

Those left to mourn her passing include her sons: Melvin L. Thomas, Anthony D. Thomas (Kyra), and Erick G. Thomas; her sisters, Brenda L. Johnson (Jimmie) and Eula E. Jones; numerous nieces and nephews, too many to name, but always in her love; and a multitude of friends, former colleagues, and individuals who were fortunate to share her love-her cooking.
