Annie Mae
Randolph
Dec 31, 1941 — Oct 31, 2025
ANNIE MAE RANDOLPH was the third child and only girl born to Quinton and Laura Jenkins Randolph on December 31,1941 in Houston, Texas. She was named after her grandmother Annie Poole Randolph and Aunt Mabel Randolph. She was raised in Houston's Third and Fifth Wards. In the Third Ward, she grew up in the loving home of her aunts, the Randolph sisters from Lufkin, Texas. This home was the place to be as she learned the many attributes of being a homemaker, its responsibilities and proper etiquette.
This home was a must visit as it was a gathering spot for the Randolph family and friends.
Annie Mae's mothers love and the Jenkins family brought her back to the 5th Ward and Settegast where her outgoing and shy personality (shy extrovert) helped her navigate the world of being a protective young mother to her son, Reginold (aka Reginald) Randolph in the early 1960's. She may have been short in statue, but tall in never ever backing down from confrontation or challenge.
Annie Mae accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated herself to His teachings. One could not leave her presence without her sharing Judges 18:6, "Go in peace and may the presence of the Lord be with you on your way."
On February 23rd, 1967, she united in marriage to Mr. Donell Major and to this union a daughter, Vicki Renee Major was born.
She was dedicated to making sure her family did not go without, therefore, she worked tirelessly doing many types of jobs: assisting her many friends who owned and operated cafes, private duty work in the prestigious River Oaks community and the downtown Memorial hospital system , and as a special education bus driver. Additionally, she was employed with Allied Van Lines, Brown and Root and finally the Marilyn Star Home Health Agency, where she was a great comfort and companion to those in the West University and Memorial areas. Once she even drove an 18 wheeler from Mexico after her husband dosed off. She left the work force to full-time care for her ailing mother and brother, and eventually returned to the work force but then left it permanently after macular degeneration prevented her from driving safely.
Annie Mae, the shy extrovert, yet a social butterfly had compassion for her fellow man. She loved her music, a good party and to look "fly" sporting many different hairdos with her gift of inherited lustrous Randolph hair, and her somewhat fast Camaro and Monte Carlo super sport vehicles. She was an avid card player, great pit master, a master of not sparing the rod and could put any sailor to shame on how to cut a person with just words. Her wit and humor will be missed. She recently joked, "What is the word, Pass the word, Thunderbird, who drink it the most, colored folk!"
ANNIE MAE RANDOLPH departed her earthly vessel during the early hours of October 31, 2025; she has gone in peace and may the presence of the Lord be with her.
Annie Mae was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John Henry Randolph and Charles Randolph. She is survived by her son Reginald Randolph, Houston, TX, daughter Vicki Renee Major of Turtle Creek, PA; grandsons Regan Andre Randolph, DeAndre Major, Rashad Sanders of Concord, NC; granddaughters Kedeja Littlejohn, Sanai Hamilton of Turtle Creek, PA, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
