Arie Doris (Allen) Arbuckle

Arie Arbuckle was born on September 26, 1936, in Houston, Texas. She was the youngest of six children born to Frank and Hester Allen.

At the age of ten, Arie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1946 at Riceville Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend T. E. Spiller. She attended Brays Bayou School and Jack Yates High School before graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1956.

Arie met Jesse Arbuckle Jr., and they were united in marriage on February 25, 1957. Together, they were blessed with six children—three daughters and three sons: Charlotte, Patty, Felicia, Anthony, Alvin, and Alfred.

Arie worked for Gulf Coast Community Services from 1976 to 1979, fulfilling her civic responsibility and helping many people throughout the community. She later worked as a caregiver for several families. In 1988, she opened her own home daycare, Arbuckle Daycare, where she cared for more than 100 children throughout the years. Her love for children and nurturing spirit made her home a place of comfort, care, and love.

Arie was a devoted and faithful member of Riceville Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she served in many ministries. She was a member of the Junior Mission, Senior Mission, Senior Choir, and Mission Chorus. She also served as Matron of the Marching Ambassadors and served faithfully on the Nurse Board for more than 35 years.

Arie was also active in her community. She served as secretary of her neighborhood civic club and was a member of the PTO Board at Brays Bayou School.

Arie enjoyed gardening, cooking, and hosting Fourth of July celebrations for family and friends. She was especially known for her delicious Seven-Up pound cakes, which brought joy to many.

Arie had a special love for children and often welcomed young people into her home when they had nowhere else to go. Her caring heart, generous spirit, and dedication to others touched the lives of countless people. Arie’s life was a beautiful example of love, faith, family, compassion, and service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Arie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Jesse Arbuckle Jr.; her parents, Frank and Hester Allen; four brothers, Frank, Moses, Abram, and Aaron; and one sister, Viola.

Arie entered eternal rest with the Lord on September 16, 2026.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory three sons, Anthony (Inell), Alvin, and Alfred; three daughters, Charlotte, Patty (Dennis), and Felicia; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She also leaves a very special friend of 75 years, Buelah Brown.

Arie’s legacy of faith, love, family, and service will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Though she is no longer with us in person, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain in our hearts forever.
