Betty Ann Comeaux

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother,

Betty Ann Comeaux, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 86.

Born on February 19, 1940, in Abbeville, Louisiana, Betty was the loving daughter of Ona Sims and Robert Comeaux. She later made her home in Houston, Texas, where she built a life centered on family, hard work, and an unwavering faith in God. Betty received a nickname of “Sunshine” because she was always demonstrating the light of God which shined through her.

Betty was a devoted Christian and received her Salvation through the teaching and preaching of Rev. Leon Stewart at Spring Green Baptist Church. Betty loved the Lord with all her heart. Her faith guided the way she lived, loved, and cared for others. Betty found strength in God’s word and often ministered to others giving them sound advice, wisdom, and encouragement. Her trust in the Lord was evident in her daily life and served as an inspiration to her family and everyone who knew her. She had a contagious smile that lightened the hearts of all around her.

Betty had a host of interests in art, puzzles, music, and cooking. Her chef skills were transferred to her children who became great chefs as well. She loved all her family and often took care of those outside of the immediate family. Her warm smile, kind heart, and generous spirit made everyone feel welcome and loved.

She was a dedicated employee as a Printer Press Lithographer in Downtown Houston. She was loved and respected among her co-workers and set a family culture of love among them.

During her retirement, Betty volunteered at McNamara Elementary School where she served as a Foster Grandparent. She touched the lives of many young children and guided them to be successful and reach their academic potential.

Above all, Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived for her family and taught them great values which molded and shaped them to be loving and caring throughout their immediate family members.

Betty leaves to cherish her precious memories with her loving children: Robert Levi Henderson Jr., Willie Couvson, Sabrina Ann Couvson, Zackary Couvson, Darryl Wayne Nolan Henderson, and Porter Renfro, IV. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandkids, and two great-great grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her mother Ona Sims-Comeaux, her father, Robert Comeaux, her sisters Ona Marie Allen and JoAnn Comeaux.

To know Betty, was to know unconditional love, unwavering faith, great wisdom, a persevering spirit, and resiliency beyond measure. Her legacy will continue to live on through thousands of people she has impacted through the years. We were truly blessed to have such an amazing mother, person, minister, guidance-counselor, mentor, and a beacon of light to so many.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the precious arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
