Betty Morgan was born on February 21, 1935 to Carl and Ethel Mosley in Devers, Texas. Her family moved to Liberty, Texas when Betty was a year old where she was raised. Betty transitioned peacefully in her sleep at The Landing at Watercrest on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
Betty was the seventh child out of eight children. She completed Liberty Training High School in 193 5. Betty attended and graduated from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas in 1957. While at Wiley she met Sylvester Morgan (Galveston,
Tx). The two married in 1960. Dr. Phyllis J. Morgan and Sylvester Kevin Morgan are a product of this union.
Betty was an educator with Houston Independent School District for more than 30 years. She retired from HISD in 1990.
Betty loved casino trips because the trips were fundraisers to help finance Wiley University. She was also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for more 65 years. Betty lived a busy life and she enjoyed being retired. Betty attended Jones Memorial United Methodist Church for more 60 plus years. She served as President of JMAS (Jones Memorial Area Seniors) at her church for more than 12 years. This is where she developed Kudos which was "paid bragging rights". Also Betty was a member of "Seniors on the Move", a neighborhood social organization.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ethel Toran Mosley. Siblings Hyram Mosley, Geraldine Wyatt, Bernadine Copeland, Bobbie Mae Love, Carl H. Mosley, 2 siblings at an early age, her husband, Sylvester Morgan.
She leaves to mourn her daughter, Dr. Phyllis J. Morgan. Son, Sylvester Kevin Morgan. Neices, Gwen Davis, Brenda Harrison, Rojeanor Malbrough, Tamu Blakely, Pam Mosley. Nephews, Herman Mosley, Ricky Love, Ron Love , Carl Mosley and David Mosley. Hosts of great nieces and great nephews and greatgreats. Goddaughter, Ursula T. Foley. Many friends, co-workers, neighbors and play- children. Betty's "SMILE" will truly be missed!!
