Obituary

On May 16, 2024, The Heavenly Father dispatched an angel to earth to whisper in the ear of one of his faithful children. The spirit of Brandi Nicole Turner took flight and soared to the heavenly realm where she is now forever in the present of our Lord and Savior.

On March 7, 1991, Pamela and Dwain were blessed with their first-born child, Brandi Nicole. Brandi was raised in Houston (except for 3 years in Cincinnati). She attended Kandy Stripe Academy during her elementary and middle school years before going to Manvel High School. Upon graduation from Manvel, Brandi attended Prairie View University where she enjoyed college life before her failing health forced her to leave school. Brandi was an avid reader and enjoyed most genres of writing. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and cooking. In January of 2017 Aniya, the joy of her life was born.

Brandi was a member of Bethel Institutional Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized by the late pastor Dr. M.A. Nimmo in 1995. She was an active member of the youth department and would also work in the sound room.

Because of Brandi's drive to be independent and successful, she held various jobs (many at the same time) during her limited window of occupation. She worked at University of Houston Law Center, OfficeMax, Fort Bend ISD, Jack-in-the-Box (shift manager), Harvest House Group Home and YMCA, among others.

Although most of Brandi's life was filled with pain, she was officially diagnosed with Lupus in 2008. She was also diagnosed with a few other life-threatening ailments. In 2017, Brandi was placed on the lung transplant list. After 3 failed attempts, Brandi successfully received a lung transplant in 2022. After her one-year lung transplant anniversary Brandi started experiencing lung rejection. It was later determined that the rejection was chronic and something that she would not overcome. Even with the latest diagnosis, she did not lose faith and held on to her faith until the end.

Brandi is preceded in death by her grandparents, Hal and Ida Neal and Jay Turner. She leaves to embrace her memory: her daughter, Aniya; parents, Dwain and Pamela; siblings, Florinda White, Ja'Neal Paige (Chris), Hal Bates Turner and Hailey Turner; grandmother, Ethel Turner; aunt, Lisa Turner; uncle, Darron Turner (Deidra); nieces Morgan Paige and Keiara Stredic, and nephews Jay and Aiden Paige; special friend, Tyran Galloway and a host of cousins, family and friends.
