Obituary

Brenda Gail McGill was born to her parents Barbara and Leonard Washington on November
29,1961. She was born in Franklin, Louisiana and moved to Houston, Texas in 1975. She
attended school and received her high school diploma from Houston Independent School
District (HISD). She went on an obtained her nurse's assistant certification in 1989 and worked
as a CNA in St. Louis, Missouri and in Houston, Texas until she retired in 2018. She got married
on February 7, 1991 to the love of her life Franklin McGill Jr. She had her first born son in
August 1989 and her baby boy in November 1991. In April 2018, she was diagnosed with stage
4 cancer and fought courageously until the end.

Brenda was a woman of faith, a mother, a wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and mentor
to many. She dedicated her life to her children and the church. She was a beacon of light and
loved to impact and help others.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Barbara and Leonard Washington, her husband
Franklin McGill Jr, her two sisters Marie and Brenetta Washington, her nephew Nicholas,
her grandparents Tommie Dale and Wesley Miles of Houston Texas, Josephine and Leonard
Washington, Sr. Gus and Bertha Bowie Sr. of Franklin, Louisiana.

Left to cherish her memory, her sons Franklin III (Jasmine) and Phillip (Ella) McGill, her
grandson Franklin McGill IV, her godsons Ellis Paige, Korey Govan and Christopher Perry of
Houston Texas. Her siblings, Connie, Bertha, Shevelta, Leonard, Willie and Critesha of Houston,
Texas. Her godparents, Lewis and Joyce Miles, Juanita Watts of Houston Texas and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
