On a bright cheery morning, Carolyn Ruth Simples was born to the proud parents of the late Dr. Rev. and Mrs. William Simples Sr. in Houston Texas in The Third Ward section of the city. She was the sixth child out of eight children. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at East Bethel Baptist Church under the Pastoral Leadership of the late Rev. G. Porter. She united with Friendship Baptist Church of Brazoria Texas and St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership and Founder the late Dr. Rev. W. M. Simples. Her ministries included Sunday school teacher, Organist, Clerk; Matron of Youth department; president of The Northeast District Association mission Women Ministry.
Smart and Confident Carolyn received her education from Blackshear Elementary and graduating from Jack Yates High School Class of 1957. She furthered her education by graduating from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor Degree of Education. A determined minded Carolyn would not stop until she received a Master Degree in Counseling from Prairie View University.
Her Professional Organization/Affiliations: State Teachers Association, Houston Federation of Teachers TSU Alumni, Reading and Math Association, Professional Educators Association, United Negro College Fund ( Golf Tournament) Lone Star Golf Association-Secretary; Harbach –Ripley Neighborhood Center, Houston Recreation and Parks Member, LSGA Junior Golf Program.

Carolyn taught at Baskin Elementary, Francis Scott Key Middle School, Isaacs Elementary and performed substitute teaching and counseling at many Houston area schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother James, sisters Cleopatra, Arnell, Melba Simples and Rose Mary Stewart and adopted sister Sadie Webb. She leaves to mourn, one brother William Simples Jr., one sister Betty Jean Pillar, special nephew Garry Simples, niece-in-law Olivia Dalene Simples, ten nieces, 6 nephews, God children Teresa Israel Elijah Barney, a host of nieces and nephews, friends, family, and students.
