Cheryl Diane
Wiggins
May 19, 1955 — Dec 20, 2024
Cheryl was born Cheryl Diane Hill through the marriage of Dorothy Sue Franklin and Thomas Spencer Hill, on May 19, 1955, in Houston Texas. Her early childhood was filled with love and support from her parents, close family as well as her extended Christian family at
Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Cheryl was baptized into the church at the age of 12, under the late Pastor D. Leon Everett. Cheryl was always an active participant in all educational offerings available to young aspiring followers of Christ. Those teachings and the love of Christ remained with her and became a part of what guided her throughout life.
Cheryl is a product of the Houston Independent School District where her mother taught for over 3 decades. Her early elementary education began at home, followed by GBM Turner Elementary and James D. Ryan Middle School. She proudly graduated from Jack Yates Sr. High School in 1973. Cheryl immediately expanded into higher education with enrollment to Huston Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. She later transferred to Prairie View A&M University in her Sophomore year, graduating in 1978 with a B.S. in Psychology.
During her studies at Prairie View A&M University, she met the love of her life, Michael
Dwayne Wiggins. A chance meeting in a university classroom eventually led to a 47-year marriage that was filled with love and admiration. Their marriage brought forth two precious souls, Michael Christopher Wiggins and Michalle Coreen Wiggins. Cheryl contributed to the family's support and wellbeing via her employment at Southwestern Bell, where she worked for 20 years.
Throughout the years, she enjoyed the support of a loving extended family surrounding her in every way possible. As her family grew, she introduced the love of Christ into the lives of her children at an early age. She continued her discipleship at the Kingdom of God Life Ministry Church, under Apostle Eric and Apostle Phyllis Wiggins, serving the congregation as an Elder for more than 20 years. Those that interacted with her could feel her love and kind spirit. Her laughter and joy as you communed with her about life, had a way of bringing comfort. Cheryl cherished her family and close friends more than anything else. Once you were a part of her heart, you were forever a part of her life. Her favorite past time was talking to everyone about her grandsons. Those that impacted her life in a positive manner remained in her heart and her prayers continually.
