Accomplishments

On May 15, 1965, Cliffic and Ethelyn Beal Guidry got married and had six kids together. As a businessman and entrepreneur, together with his wife, Cliffic and Ethelyn owned real estate, rental properties, a daycare center, and, to his great pride, a furniture store. "Guidry's Unique Home Furnishers" opened for business on February 9, 1970. In the early 1970s, the location of this business was an achievement in itself. The quaint shop in West University Place was in the unique Weslayan Shopping Center just off the Southwest Freeway. Cliffic's and Ethelyn's shop was featured in the Houston Post and the Forward Times as a black business in a white community.

When it came to his children, Cliffic believed in being a "Great Father and Family Man." Cliffic was once given the honor of "Mother of the Year" when the kids attended Girl Scouts for the greater Houston area.

From Cliffic's perspective, his greatest achievement was his children. During the summers, they would take the children camping to expose them to travel and cleverly used it as a way to build family bonding time. The camps included Camp Toledo, Lake Livingston, and Alabama Coushatta Indian Reservation. The kids often became junior forest rangers. Cliffic and Ethelyn often stated to the kids, "I don't care what you all do in life as long as you all become a doctor" So, they almost got their wish…each of his children chose the medical field for their vocation. Two medical doctors, two pharmacists, a nurse, and a radiology technician.

His family now includes his present wife, Carolyn Guidry, Ph.D and her son, a professional truck driver and accomplish music producer. Carolyn and Cliffic traveled the world, from Venice Italy, New York, Spain, Alaska and several cruises. One of their fondest memories even included being snowed in from a 100-year-old blizzard in Lake Tahoe. He and Carolyn enjoyed traveling and owned CG Travel company.
