Clifford King
Jr
Jun 22, 1953 — Dec 11, 2025
Clifford King Jr., affectionally known as "Junior", was the first child born to the late Mozell (Walker) King and MSgt. Clifford B. King Sr. on June 22, 1953, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Tx. He attended Lincoln Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School, and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1971. Known for his love for football and baseball, he participated in football while attending Lincoln Junior High School and played baseball while attending Edgewood High School. Even though he did not continue playing sports after graduation, his love for sports never ceased, as his favorite pastimes were often watching and cheering on his favorite sports teams. While living in San Antonio, he was a Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan. Once he moved to Houston, he became a die-hard fan of the Houston Astros, the Houston Rockets, and his beloved Houston Texans. In addition to loving sports, he loved music, dancing, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. Clifford never met a stranger, and he was always there for others, checking in, offering support, and staying connected to the people he loved, especially by sharing daily inspirational text messages.
After graduating from high school, Clifford enlisted in the U.S. Navy from August 1972 to 1976. Soon after being discharged, Clifford began working at Ft. Sam Houston, Air Force Base. He later moved to Houston, TX, to work for the United States Postal Service for more than 34 years, where he served faithfully as a USPS Letter Carrier until his retirement in July 2009. Due to his eagerness to return to work, he began working at The Houston Methodist Hospital, Medical Center, and Emergency Center in Pearland, TX, where he served as a Security Representative from June 2010 to April 2020.
Clifford accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. James A.M.E Church in San Antonio, TX., which laid the foundation for his faith. After moving to Houston, Clifford joined Brentwood Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the Male Chorus. On February 22, 2005, he united in Holy Matrimony to Monica L. Burns. Together, they shared nearly 23 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, travel, and many unforgettable Houston Texans games. They later joined Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in December 2006, where Clifford was an active member, serving on the Courtesy Corps and Communications Team, working with the camera ministry.
Preceding him in eternal rest are his parents, the late Mozell King and the late SSgt. Clifford B. King Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Dr. Monica L. King; his children, Dasha Nicholson, Clifford King III, and Jalisa King (Krisha); and nine grandchildren. One sister, Dr. Doris Jackson (Alton); one brother, Alvin W. King (Robbin); three God sisters, Kim Gardner, Jackie Woods, and Cynthia Gardner-Lacy (Roderick); one Goddaughter, Kianna Treadwell, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts, and many other friends and family members.
