Obituary

Cornelia Denise Pickney was born December 13, 1956, in Houston, Texas, to proud the parents Edward and Leanna Pickney. Neicy was reared in the Catholic faith and remained a faithful lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was a proud Colt and graduated from Evan E. Worthing High School, in 1976.

Her proudest moment in life was being a loving and dedicated mother to her two daughters: Carmelia Deshawn Pickney and Lakeshia Denise Battles. She was very close to both of her daughters.

Following her parents' example Neicy was a hard worker. She was employed by Frito Lay for many years and retired from Bimbo Bakery after 31 years of dedicated service.

Neicy had a love for family, good food and sports. She loved family gatherings, a good pity pat game and her favorite restaurant, Red Lobster. Neicy loved all sports and was a fan of her home teams, Houston Astros, Houston Texans and Houston Rockets.

She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; daughter, Carmelia DeShawn Pickney; parents Edward and Leanna Pickney; sister, Amanda Gail Pickney; and brother, Edward Pickney.

Treasuring Neicy's presence in their lives are her daughter, Lakeshia D. Battles of Houston; sisters, Lee Eastha Rhodes and Elizabeth Anderson, of Houston; Godmother/Aunt, Agnes Stoot Wilson of Houston; Aunts Cornelia Stoot and Clara Stoot Robbins, of Opelousas, LA; Aunts Ruth Stoot Bobb and Christine Stoot Strain of Houston; Uncles Wilbert Stoot (Shirley) and Rodney Stoot of Opelousas, LA; and Uncle Lawrence Stoot of Houston, Texas;  nieces, Kiera Pickney, Tamara Rhodes and Deandra Moshay (Milton) of Houston, Texas; nephews, Corey Anderson and Wiley Rhodes, Jr., of Houston, Texas; special friends Darion Coleman, Loretta Silas, Vanessa Bryant and Danita Walker all of Houston, Texas; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
