Obituary

Curley Joseph Green, Jr. was the youngest child born to Curley Joseph, Sr. and Rena Green in Crowley,
Louisiana, on March 12, 1951. Curley was a very high-spirited fun-loving mischievous child. From a young
age, Curley enjoyed baseball, swimming, and being a prankster. The one thing he enjoyed the most was
dancing and music. Curley completed his formal educa on in Crowley, gradua ng from Crowley High
School, where he was a percussionist in the school band. As a product of Southwest Louisiana, he
enjoyed Zydeco, trail rides and the party didn't start un l he arrived. Known for his vibrant personality,
Curley never met a stranger and le a las ng impression on everyone he encountered. With that said, he
s ll embraced his faith and was serious about his walk with God. He was bap zed at a young age at
Bethel CME church in Crowley Louisiana, where he served alongside his mother as a junior usher. He
remained a faithful member of Bethel un l he moved to Houston as a young adult, where he later
a ended Trinity Missionary Bap st Church.
A er his me at Trinity, he con nued his Chris an journey by joining Covenant Glen Church in 1990
under the leadership of Rev. Robert E. Childress, where he remained a faithful member un l God called
him home. In his early years at CG he played a vital role with the men of the church, ensuring the
seamless transforma on of the sanctuary into a learning center for The Ubora School each week.
Curley was ac vely involved with the ushers and the men's ministry and was an unofficial member of the
prayer team, par cipa ng with his wife Dot, for over 25 years, Curley served as the Treasurer of
Covenant Glen, a posi on he held with dedica on and commitment.
In the early 1970s, Curley moved to Houston, Texas, embarking on a career with Anderson Greenwood
and Company as a machinist. Following the company's closure, Curley transi oned into a new
profession, earning his CDL and driving commercial trucks for over 20 years un l his re rement due to
illness. While he was a hard worker, he never forgot to enjoy life. He loved fishing, bowling, so ball, and
of course, his trail riding.
Curley married at a young age, and from that union, he was blessed with a devoted daughter, Shunda.
Later in life Curley met and married his dear friend and lovely wife Dorothy "Dot" Jackson on July 21,
1990 in her family home of Goudeau, Louisiana. They remained happily married until God called him home.
