Obituary

Cynthia Loraine Sutton was born on August 10, 1936, in Brookshire, Texas, to the late Felix and Georgia Mobley. She was the ninth of thirteen children, raised in a home grounded in faith and strong family values.

At age ten, Cynthia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She later became a longtime faithful member of St. Mark Baptist Church and eventually united with One Church at Bethel's Family, remaining steadfast in her faith throughout her life.

Cynthia received her education in Brookshire, Texas. In 1961, she moved to Houston, where she met Ervin Nataniel Sutton. They were married on January 13, 1962, and shared 28 years of devoted marriage until his passing in 1990. Five children were born from this union, three boys and two girls.

A dedicated worker, Cynthia served 28 years at St. Luke's Hospital in housekeeping and in the coffee shop and later worked at Jessie H. Jones High School and Methodist Hospital before retiring.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Cynthia's family was her pride and joy. She loved to cook, bake, and sew. When she cooked, it seemed that it was done with the entire neighborhood in mind. Cynthia loved the Lord and lived a full and meaningful life. Though she was not always able to attend worship in her later years, she remained faithful in sending her tithes—what she lovingly called her "dues."  She loved helping wherever she could and she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Felix, and Georgia Mobley; her beloved husband, Ervin N. Sutton; and her siblings, Austin Mobley, Christine Neal, Johnny Mobley, Otis Mobley, Ernest Mobley, Mabel Myles, Frankie Mobley, Birdie Mobley, and Arnold Mobley.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Kender L. Montgomery (Elijah), Orain D. Sutton (Katy), Travoy F. Sutton, Tangela L. Sutton, and Shannon V. Sutton (Crystal); her siblings Donald Mobley, Gloria Mobley, and Doris Bostick (Henry); along with grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Cynthia Loraine Sutton leaves a legacy of love, service, faith, and family that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
