Darrell (Roosevelt) was born on Friday, June 15, 1956, in El Paso, TX to SFC Roosevelt (Chief) Woodard and Bertha Lee Amey. He attended public schools in Houston ISD graduating from Ross Sterling HS on June 1, 1973. He also attended the University of Houston graduating on December 17, 1982, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. Darrell’s employment was extensive. He earned a Real Estate License in Houston, TX and a Broker’s License in Atlanta, GA. He was also an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service.

Darrell accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Hoxie Perry Jr. He enjoyed singing in the Male Chorus and serving on the Usher Board. He also attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Inc. under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth K. Rose Jr.

Darrell enlisted in the US Army on October 15, 1974, and was honorably discharged on October 14, 1978. He was veteran of the Peacetime and Vietnam Era.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents Roosevelt (Chief) Woodard and Bertha Lee Amey.
