Obituary

Doris Faye McDonald, better known as "Bay" was born on December 21, 1937, in New Roads, LA the sixth of eight children born to Ulia and Frank Major Jr.

She received her education in public school attending George Washington Carver High School located in DeRidder, LA. Doris worked as a Manager for several Diamond Shamrock stations around Houston, TX.

Doris "Bay" married Woodrow McDonald which was the love of her life. They met in DeRidder, LA around 1957/1958.

Doris enjoyed talking on the telephone with family and friends as well as being able to travel back to Deridder, LA to spend time with them. They would reminisce on all the good times they shared. She also had so much fun going to the Casino with her niece Sandra Lee. In her spare time, she would do crossword puzzles. Doris was so elated, every time she got to spend with her grandchildren and great grandson. It made her feel young at heart. She always had a great time on family outings. Whether it was going to dinner with her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter or grandson, granddaughter in law, and great grandson, going to the movies, seeing her granddaughter performances, attending birthday parties, & etc. The thing that she loved the most was Sharing her Love for Fishing with her son Leo McDonald they were True and Dedicated Fishing Partners.

After celebrating 86 years of life, Doris "Bay" transitioned from earth to heaven on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 3:05 a.m. at home where she resided with her son Leo and daughter in law RaShida. She is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Woodrow "Big Dub" McDonald; parents: Ulia and Frank Major Jr.; siblings:  Edna McClinton, Dorothy Major, Ruby Bush, Joeseph Lonzo Major, and William Roy Major (half -brother); two daughters: Sharon Freeman and Peggy Lynn Freeman; one grandson: Jerel JaVance McDonald; one great grandson: Clayton Dwayne Powers Jr.

She is survived by her children – Leonard Clarence Freeman, Leo McDonald (RaShida), and Anthony JaVance McDonald, six grandchildren: Sonja Deette Powers , Carey Bernard Freeman, Leo (Beatriz) McDonald, Jayla Centelia McDonald, Anthony JaVance McDonald Jr., Shelby E. Whitefield-McDonald; seven great grandchildren: Andrew Janard Freeman, DeSondra Rochelle Freeman (1 daughter), Shenequa Monique Freeman (3 sons), Clasha Deete Powers (1 son & 1 daughter) Zarrian Ware Jr. Aaron McDonald, and Asher Felix McDonald; siblings: Morris Major, Leo Major, & Barbara Ann Coker, one sister-in-law:  Bernice Major;  one brother-in-law: Edward Coker; and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
