Dorothy Louise Coleman, known as Dorrie, was born on July 11, 1939, in El Campo, Texas to the late Fannie and Rober Clay. Dorrie went to public schools in El Campo, where she grew up and learned many important lessons. Her childhood in this small Texas town helped shape the person she would become. She made friends and created and created memories during her formative years that would stay wither for a lifetime.
Eventually Dorothy moved to Houston to pursue a better life. There, she met and married Benjamin Coleman, Sr. Dorothy and Benjamin started a family, and they welcomed two sons in to the world, named Benjamin Jr., and Gregory Coleman. Dorothy worked hard to build a good life for her boys, and they enjoyed their time together as a loving family in Houston.
Dorothy was a hardworking woman who wore so many hats to support her family. Over the years, she took on different jobs, but the one she loved most was as a foster parent with Child Protective Services. For almost 20 years she opened her heart and home to many children. Dorothy cared for them with love and provided a safe place until they could find their forever families. Her kindness made a big difference the lives of those children showing them they were valued and loved.
Dorothy was loving person who will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fannie and Robert, who raised her with care. Dorothy's son, Gregory Coleman, also passed away before her. She had tow bothers, son and Robert Lee Ernest, who shared special memories with her. Additionally, her grandchildren, Benjamin and Kristal Robinson, brought joy to her life. Dorothy's family remembers her warmth and kindness as they hold onto their treasured
Dorothy is remembered fondly by her son, Benjamin Coleman, Jr. and her adopted son, Jared Coleman. She leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Kitty, Robert, and Joseph, wo will always cherish her memory; Dorothy's sister, Deborah Clay and brother, Ronnie Clay, also mourn her loss. In addition, she is survivedby a large family that includes great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends. Each of them carries a piece of her love in their hearts, ensuring her spirit lives on with them.
