Dwight Gerard Mouton

Dwight Gerard Mouton, born on December 13, 1954, to the late John Mouton and Evelyn Gilbeau Mouton, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at 8:17 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, surrounded by love and family. Raised in a devout Catholic Family, Dwight was christened and fulfilled all of the church sacraments. He attended Mass as often as his health would allow.

Dwight attended and graduated from Furr High School in Houston, Texas. He continued his education at DeVry Technical Institute, where he graduated with a Technical Degree, preparing him for a successful career in the computer and engineering field. Dwight began a career with NL Baroid (currently known as Baroid IDP), an international supplier of drilling fluid additives and services to the Oil and Gas Industry. As a Computer Engineer, specializing in computer calibrations and drilling systems used on offshore oil rigs. His work required technical expertise, precision, and dedication. He took pride in his ability to work with complex technology and ensure that these systems operated properly. Later in life, Dwight retired from the City of Houston Waste Management Division, closing an important chapter in a long and hardworking career. Dwight’s life was about so much more than his work. His family, the people he loved, and the moments they shared were what made life meaningful to him.

Dwight married Uneeda Freeman and unto this union they were blessed with a daughter, Nikkia Deanee' Mouton, whom he affectionately nicknamed “Biscuit.” Dwight was a proud and doting father. Nikkia blessed Dwight with two grandsons, Jaylen and Jordan, who brought another generation of love and joy into his life. Sometime later, Dwight also shared many years with his longtime friend Ruth “Cookie” Hill. Together, they shared years of companionship, treasured memories, laughter, and life experiences. Dwight also welcomed Ruth’s daughter, Sherrhonda, into his heart, proudly embracing her as his bonus daughter and her children (Brian, Jessica, Diamond, and Asia) who affectionately called him “Gight.”

Dwight knew how to enjoy life. He loved all sports, fishing, and barbecuing. Give Dwight a fishing pole, a game to watch, or a grill to stand beside, and he was in his element. These simple pleasures gave him opportunities to relax, laugh, spend time with others, and make memories. Some of the best moments were simply the moments shared with the people he cared about.

Dwight was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Mouton and Evelyn Gilbeau Mouton; his sister, Malinda Taylor; and his brother, David Mouton. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Nikkia Deanee' Mouton; grandsons, Jaylen and Jordan; longtime friend, Ruth “Cookie” Hill; devoted bonus daughter, Sherrhonda (LaMarr); brothers Gary, Ralph (Kena), Lawrence, sister Annette and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Dwight’s life was a journey filled with family, hard work, laughter, love, and memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. In his final moments, he was surrounded by the love of those closest to him, bringing comfort and peace as his earthly journey came to an end. Rest peacefully, Dwight. You were loved, you are deeply missed, and you will forever be in our hearts…
