Edith Elaine Mitchell was born to the parentage of Vera Mae Sibley and Parmon Sibley Jr. on the 1st day of February 1958, in Tylertown, MS. She graduated from Alcorn State University in 1980. She moved to Bloomington, IL right after college working for State Farm as an accountant. Elaine met the love of her life in Bloomington in 1980.
Elaine married William Mitchell Jr on November 6, 1982 in Tylertown, MS. They moved to Houston, TX in 1982 and purchased their one and only home in 1984. She landed a job with Valic, now known as AIG in 1983 and worked there until her disability. She formed lasting friendships and relationships while working at her job.
Elaine gave birth to her first daughter, January 29, 1985, Ashley Nicole Mitchell (Holloway). 3.5 years later she had second daughter, Carmen Denise Mitchell on October 25, 1988. Although she did not give birth to Emma Rose and William Mitchell III she helped raise them and showered them with unconditional love.
Elaine was a faithful member of Riceville Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church since 1983. She was extremely active and served in various ministries such as, Jr. Mission, Sr. Mission, Usher Board, Children's Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, and Women's Ministry. She served
wherever she was needed in the church and did it graciously.
Elaine is known for her beautiful smile and kind spirit. She was always giving of her time and talents and loved everybody. Outside of church Elaine was highly involved with her children & extracurricular activities. She was there for track, basketball, football, band, karate, piano,
academic awards, PTO, and any activities that her busy children were a part of.
Elaine loved to cook and serve others. She also enjoyed walking around the trails after work for exercise. Elaine loved to shop at the Goodwill and Dirt Cheap. It was therapeutic for her. But the thing that she enjoyed the most was being around her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, auntie, grandma, and friend.
She left behind her loving husband of 38 years, William Mitchell Jr; Son William Mitchell III (Jinaki Muhummad), Daughters: Emma Rose Mitchell, Ashley Nicole Holloway (Gemayel Holloway); Carmen Denise Mitchell (Antonio Mitchell); Grandchildren: William Mitchell IV, Gemayel Holloway II, and Trinity Holloway, Sisters Laura Pickens (Wallace Pickens), Shirley Waller (Ed Waller), Betty Magee (Michael Magee), Selena Holmes, Deborah Bickham (Carl Bickham), Cynthia Causey (Darrell Causey); Brothers: Charles Sibley (Brenda Sibley), Lenzie Sibley. And a host of nieces and nephews.
Among those waiting to receive her are her parents, Vera Mae Sibley and Parmon Sibley Jr; two brothers Glen Roy Sibley (James) and Robert Earl Sibley (Bob).
