Obituary

Emma Beatrice Robinson Garrett, a beloved woman of unwavering faith, grace, and purpose, was called home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on February 23, 1952. Emma lived a life rooted in love, service, and song.

Emma was born to the late Clifford Robinson and Maggie Lee Harris and was one of seven beautiful children. She now rejoices in a heavenly reunion with her five sisters and one brother who preceded her in death.

Baptized at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend S.L. Farris, Emma began her walk with Christ at a young age. She was active in the Starlight Band, the Youth Choir, the Young Adult Choir, and later the Senior Choir, using her God-given gift of song to minister through music. She continued her service faithfully under the leadership of the late Reverend Carroll and Reverend Frank Celestine. In her later years, Emma became a devoted member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Max A. Miller, where she remained steadfast in her worship and service.

A proud alumna of Houston Tillison, Emma remained an active part of the alumni community, always supporting events and encouraging school pride among former classmates and future generations.

Emma pursued higher education with determination, earning both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She answered the call to serve as an educator, pouring love, wisdom, and encouragement into the lives of her students. Her impact reached far beyond the classroom, as she mentored and inspired many throughout her career.

She was also a devoted member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, where she exemplified the values of sisterhood, scholarship, and service with dignity and excellence.

Emma leaves behind her beloved niece, Lynn Shelley (Rochae) and nephew, Wilbert Ray Hubbard, 12 greatneices, 7 great nephews, one aunt, Beatrice Jones, of Midland, Texas, special aunts and uncles in Hern,Texas, one special lifetime sister-friend, Vernetta Buckner and a host of many cousins, family and friends. To her family, she was a guiding light, a spiritual anchor, and a source of unconditional love.

Though her voice has quieted here on Earth, her song continues in heaven's choir. Emma Beatrice Robinson Garrett has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. We rejoice in knowing she now rests in eternal peace.
