Obituary

Eugene James Perkins was born on March 15, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Mr. Sherman and Mrs. Sedonia Perkins. On Wednesday March 19, 2025 our Lord and Savior decided to call his angel Eugene home at the age of 79.

He was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love to his family and friends. From a young age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He attended Lowry High School in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. After graduation he joined the United States Airforce. There he served as an Airforce Policeman. Upon his departure from the Airforce, Eugene attended Texas Southern University. He later became employed by yet another government agency by working with the United States Postal Service. He faithfully served there for 37 years as a Postal Carrier and Union Representative. He was known throughout the community for his kind heart, big smile, courageous work ethic, and healthy appetite. Eugene always was there to lend a helping hand. The word "NO" was not a part of his vocabulary as he would help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Eugene James Perkins Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Perkins (Father) and Sedonia Perkins (Mother). He is survived by his loving spouse Juanita Perkins of over 40 plus years. Eugene was blessed with two biological children (Kenya Perkins and Eugene James Perkins Jr) and three bonus children (Joseph Brown, Alton Brown, and LaTosha Brown-Bennett); Grandchildren: Skylar Muse, Ashton Bennett (Aurielle/Amari), Austin Bennett (Braylen/Gemma), Arik Bennett; and his Godchildren: Tangela Perkins Monroe and Zena Perkins; Siblings- Clarence Perkins (Ruby), Stanford Perkins (Dayle), Joyce Jones, Eddie Perkins (Sheila), Wardell Perkins, Kenneth Perkins, Gwendolyn Perkins, Nathaniel Perkins, Shelia Perkins (John), Norman Perkins, and a host of  family and friends.
