Born on October 24, 1944, in Houston, Texas, Evander Johnson lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and community. A gifted student, he graduated at the top of his class at Evan E. Worthing High School in Houston, Texas. He went on to attend Prairie View A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Engineering on a full academic scholarship—an achievement that reflected his intellect and determination.

Evander proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, where he served during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected his strong sense of duty, discipline, and commitment to others.

Following his military service, Evander built a successful professional career and retired from Xerox Corporation in 1993 after 20 years of dedicated service. He was respected for his strong work ethic, leadership, and professionalism.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Addie Mae (Ellisor) Johnson, to whom he has been married for 57 years; his three children, Evander Johnson Jr., Kellie McNair (Janson), and Carla Jones (Christopher); six grandchildren, Janson, Isabel, Abigail, Ava, Ashton, and Charlee; and his brother, Harvey Johnson (Lon). He cherished time spent with family, especially gathering together under one roof in the Poconos for Thanksgiving.

Evander had a lifelong love of sports, whether playing, coaching, or enthusiastically watching.

Those who knew Evander will remember him as a man of integrity, intelligence, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend.
