Fay Ivy
Miller
Feb 21, 1949 — Sep 10, 2024
Ivy (Fay) Miller entered the world on February 21, 1949, in Franklin, Louisiana. She was the 3rd child born into the union of Walter and Yvonne (Prevost) Theriot and named after her grandfather Ivy Prevost.
While Fay spent her younger years in Franklin, Louisiana the family later moved to Houston, Texas when she was six years old. Here she attended St. Nichoas Catholic School, Crispus Attucks Middle School and Evan E. Worthing High School where she was the co-captain of the cheerleading squad. It was at Worthing High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Jesse Miller, who would later become her husband.
After graduating high school Fay attended Texas Southern University where she obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in 1972. During this time, she also married, Jesse and they welcomed into the world their firstborn, Chandra. Five years later, Fay would become pregnant again with their second child Krisla. While Jesse and Fay were married for over 20 years, they unfortunately decided to go their separate ways. Despite their divorce, they remained close and continued a life-long friendship continuing to spend time together as family until the day GOD called him home in 2017.
Much of her career was dedicated to the oil & gas industry working for Sunoco, GE Oil & Gas and Ladd Petroleum as a Production Accountant for over 25 years. It was during this time where she met her best friend, Emma Montgomery. Here they formed an unbreakable bond that would last a lifetime. Their shared experiences and mutual respect blossomed into a deep friendship that extended far beyond the workplace. They were there for each other through thick and thin, celebrating life's milestones and offering unwavering support during challenging times.
Fay capped off her career as a social worker for Child Protective Services in the last ten years and retired from the State of Texas. During retirement she was able to spend more time in helping to raise her grandsons, Nicolas and Ashton.
Throughout the years she never strayed to far away from her love of sewing, shopping, and jewelry making. She had a flair for fashion and was considered a gold medal shopper. If she wasn't at Marshall Field's during its heyday with her girls, she could be found at her sewing machine making dresses for herselfand the girls or crocheting blankets for anyone with a soon to be newborn. Later in life she became known for her Marshall and Target shopping sprees.
After a courageous battle with dementia, she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and a passion for life.
Fay was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Yvonne Theriot, her brothers, Walter Louis Theriot, and Jonathon Craig Theriot.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her daughters, Chandra E. Miller and Krisla M. Sharpe (Tamarron), her grandsons, Nicolas T. Hall and Ashton B. Miller. Her sister, Cherry A. Boxie. Her nieces and nephews, Joely & Chris Sampson, Damon & LaTonna Boxie, Jonathon Jr. & Karen Theriot. Her in-laws, James "WeeGee" Miller, Brenette & Alfonzo Dilworth, Joseph & LaTonya Doswell, and Craig & Revetta Doswell. And her best friend for life, Emma Montgomery. Add to that a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, family, extended family, friends and acquaintances.
