Flora Sims was the eldest daughter born to Roosevelt, Sr. and Maude Taylor on January 7, 1929.

Flora was baptized at an early age at Starlight Baptist Church in Alexandria, LA.  After moving to Texas, Flora found her church home at East Macedonia Baptist Church where she remained a member until she went home to be with the Lord.

She attended schools in her hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana.  It is not a surprise that such a bright and inquisitive child would love school.  Flora continued her education until she graduated from Peabody High School.

Flora met her husband O. B. Sims, Sr. in Alexandria and they were married on March 17, 1946.  They were the proud parents of ten beautiful children.  Flora and O. B. were married for 54 years.

Flora's greatest joy was her family.  She was the proud mother of 10 children, but because of her generous and caring nature, many more were proud to call her mom.

Flora was preceded in death by her husband O. B., Sr., sons, O. B. Sims, Jr., Herbert Larry (Tojuania), Taylor, and Troy (Angie).  Flora also mourned the loss of her beloved father and mother, Roosevelt, Sr. and Maude; sisters: Dorothy, Louise, Elizabeth, Betty, and Deborah; brother, Roosevelt, Jr.  She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters Shirley (Walter), Gwendolyn (Robert), and Carol; a special daughter of the heart, Jacqueline Wilson Butler;  sons Wayne (Earline), John, Bernard, and Cornelius.  Flora will also be cherished by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
