Gail Bernette
Jones
Nov 22, 1952 — Nov 4, 2023
Gail Bernette Jones was born on November 22nd, 1952 in Houston, Texas to Clarence and Willie Lee Goffney. Gail was the middle child of three children, her big sister Donna Renne and her little brother Clarence Jr.
Gail gave birth to Kennith Dewyane Jones on November 23, 1980 at St. Lukes in Houston, Texas.
Her first introduction to Christ was at Fourth Missionary Baptist Church, then later moved her membership to South Union Baptist Church where she was an active member of the choir along with other voluntary activities. When she was not able to attend in person, she would stream the morning service on Sunday mornings. After graduating from Worthing High School, class of 1972, she attended Prairie View A&M University where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Her education continued at Texas Southern University where she graduated with her Masters Degree in Education.
Gail loved teaching and would keep in touch with most of her students after educating them. As her life continued, she would involve herself with Dewayne's sports being a team mom for his sports teams, she made sure she would take him to Monster Truck events, Dirt Bike shows, the Airshow and whatever else he wanted to do that would simply make him happy. The relationship with her siblings was unmatched as she spoke with one of them daily. If she did not, she jokingly took it personal and would make it known to them when they did speak. She was the family historian and knew all the gossip and could not wait to spill the details with anyone who seemed interested in what she had to reveal! Talking on the phone for hours with family and friends kept her occupied. With adding Coloring, Crossword Puzzles, watching The Young & the Restless, Jerry Springer and her newfound favorite channel The Hallmark Channel. If she was able to watch the Astros, Texans or Rockets, she would call her son and ask him if he knew if one of the teams won or lost.
Without doubt, what really brought joy to her life was being surrounded by family and countless friendships that span MULTIPLE DECADES.
Gail's laughter, high pitched voice, smile and tender heart will always be a part of each and everyone of us. Her life will always be remembered with grace, happiness and pure love.
The link in our chain is forever broken but her memory lives on in her son Kennith Dewayne Jones (Adriana), sister Donna Goffney Porter, brother Clarence Goffney Jr., nephew Eric Charles Porter. Her aunt Mary (Mary Brannon), her uncle John (John Goffney). There are also many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of other relatives, friends and a beloved church family.
