Obituary

Garry B. Raglin was born an identical twin six minutes after his brother, Larry, on February 16, 1953, to Otis Melvin and Fay Carolyn Raglin.

Garry professed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. O.B. Evans at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the junior choir. He loved the Lord and was a believer.

He served as Brotherhood President and Vice President at Charity MBC where Rev. L.G. Thorn pastored.

In 2013, Garry joined Lilly Grove MBC where Rev. Terry K. Anderson is the pastor.

Garry had a loving spirit and was loved by all. He loved his family. As a teenager, he, his twin brother, Larry, and their friends formed a small band in their basement in Inkster, Michigan. Garry played drums; Larry played the guitar.

He attended B.H. Grimes Elementary and Crispus Attucks Junior High. He obtained his GED from Texas Southern University and was later certified as a nursing assistant.

Over the years, Garry was a faithful employee for Riviana Foods, Yellow Cab Taxi Service, Metro, and Hobby Airport.

On March 20, 2024, Garry departed this life at Capstone Healthcare Estates where he resided since September 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Thorn-Raglin; parents, Otis and Fay Raglin; grandparents, Tommy (Big Daddy) and Eunice (Big Mama) Raglin, Leroy (Po-Po) and Katherine (Dit) Hamilton, and Oscar Bates, Sr.; aunts, Marjorie Curry, Willie Faye Ford, and Eva Mae Raglin-Amos; cousins, Barbara Curry, Ricky Hamilton, Diana Hankins, Darrius Rogers; and brother-in-laws, Jesse Cary and David Carothers.
