Obituary

Glenda D. Burrell was born on June 14th, 1955 in Bay City, TX to Allen Arthur Burrell, Jr and Sophornia Burrell. She was the third child of six.

Glenda accepted Christ at an early age and spent her childhood in Bay City, TX before the family relocated to Houston after Hurricane Carla. She was educated in the Houston Independent School District, attending Miller Jr.

High and graduating from Jack Yates High School in 1974. She went on to work as a healthcare provider. Glenda was also a faithful member of the New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, serving under the leadership of Alton J. Moore and later Ronald S. Smith. She remained a faithful servant until her health began to fail. Glenda is remembered as a devoted mother with a kind heart who never met a stranger and effortlessly remembered everyone's birthday.

Glenda leaves to honor and cherish her son, Tellas Burrell, and daughter Desirae A. Burrell; Siblings: Ray Burrell (Louretha), Jackie Cox (Gary), Chris Slaughter (John), Jeneene Flakes (Ron), and Brenda All of Houston Texas. Uncles: Manuel Gartica (Pat Alfred Burrell, Milton Burrell (Genevieve), Andrew (Alberta). Aunts: Susie Gartica of Wharton, TX, Elizabeth Hudson (Glenn) of Anchorage, AK. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Sophornia Burrell; Niece, Brena Tucker; and nephew Justin Taylor.
