Gloria Jean
Everline
Mar 8, 1955 — Jul 10, 2024
Gloria Jean Everline, a beloved community member, began her journey on March 8, 1955, in Houston, Texas, to her loving parents, Willie Mae & Albert Everline, in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Houston. Gloria was a product of J.R. Reynolds Elementary, Carter G. Woodson Junior High & Evan E. Worthing High School, where she graduated in 1973. While attending Worthing High School, Gloria played the clarinet in The Original Marching "100" and was a member of the Student Council and The Sophisticates. Upon graduating from Worthing, Gloria attended Houston Christian University, formerly Houston Baptist University, and studied Nursing. She later received her Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification.
She was a member of the Fort Bend National Black Nurses Association and the NAACP. After years as a dedicated LVN, Gloria returned to school to further her education and obtain her RN (Registered Nurse) degree. She retired as a Registered Nurse from St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in the medical center in 2015 after dedicating 40 years of service to this medical profession.
At an early age, Gloria Everline accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savior. Gloria always remembered the little white church she attended with her grandmother Francis Twine in the country. So, her excitement to join Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with her parents in the late 1960s under the leadership of the late Pastor Emeritus Sherman West seemed destined at 10413 Ashville Drive. Now known as Southeast Community Church, Gloria continued her dedication as an adult with her two children under the leadership of Thurman H. West. She was a member of various ministries, including the Single's Ministry, Sunday School Class and a highly dedicated member of the "Best Choir on Ashville" SECC Mass Choir.
Gloria Jean Everline passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, July 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She spent eight years battling stage four cancer, with her first diagnosis in 2016 from her earthly physicians. She was given only two years to live, but God blessed her with a miracle because it was not her time. He saw fit to give her the strength and perseverance to make decisions and keep pushing.
Gloria Everline was preceded in death by her grandfather, Alex Davis; grandmother, Francis Twine; beloved sister, Anna Bell Smith; and parents, Albert and Willie Mae Everline.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kelly Monique Frazier; her son Antoine Marcellus Hicks; son-in-law, James Frazier; two grandchildren, Khyra M. Frazier & Landon J. Frazier; Sister/Friend Toni Walker, Duplechain Family and other loving relatives and friends.
