Gloria Jean
Robinson
Sep 19, 1945 — Jan 31, 2025
Gloria Robinson, a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and an indomitable spirit, was born on September 19, 1945, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Reverend W. H. Miller (Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church) and Eunice Miller.
Gloria grew up in Houston, Texas, where she attended public schools and formed lifelong friendships. It was during these formative years at Miller Junior High that she met the love of her life, Thomas Robinson Sr. She graduated as Valedictorian from the Historic Jack Yates High School in 1963. Gloria then attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas where she graduated in 3 years with a degree in Mathematics. Her connection with Thomas Sr. was instant and on August 28, 1965, they united in holy matrimony, building a life filled with love, faith, and the joys of parenthood. To this union, two children were born Karen Robinson and Thomas Robinson Jr.
Gloria's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She accepted Christ at an early age and began her spiritual journey at Jordan Grove Baptist Church. Later, she found her church home at Brentwood Baptist Church in 1986 in Houston, under the pastorate of Dr. Joe Samuel Ratliff. While at Brentwood she served as Deaconess, a faithful member, math tutor to many students, and Angel Tree volunteer. She led with a servant's heart, extending love and care to all who crossed her path.
A trailblazer in the technology industry, Gloria's hard work and dedication led her to begin her career as a Fortran Programmer at NASA and IBM, working on the early NASA Apollo Missions. Her career flourished as she later joined Gulf Oil and Chevron, where she dedicated over 30 years of trusted service as a Computer Room / IT Manager. Her professionalism, intelligence, and work ethic left a lasting impact, making her a respected figure among her colleagues.
Beyond her professional and church commitments, Gloria had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved. She never missed a special occasion, ensuring that every friend and family member received a handwritten birthday or anniversary card. These simple yet profound gestures were her way of saying, I love you!
On January 31, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas, Gloria peacefully transitioned from this life, having completed her course with grace, dignity, and unwavering faith. Though she is absent in body, her spirit remains eternal in the hearts of those who loved her.
Gloria is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas Robinson Sr. and her parents and grandparents, but leaves behind a family deeply blessed by her love: her cherished children, Karen Robinson (Ralph) and Thomas Robinson Jr. (Kaitlin) both of Houston, Texas; Grandson, Eddie Paul III; Brother, Garry Miller; Niece and Nephews: Cheryl Miller, Jason Miller, Errol Johnson, and a host of cousins, relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Her life was a testament to faith, love, and service. She fought the good fight. She finished her course. And now, she rests in the presence of the Lord.
