Godfrey Roosevelt Whiting II, 42, was born December 10, 1982 in Houston Texas. Godfrey was the fourth of five children, the only son born to Dawn Rosero (Whiting), and lovingly named after his father Godfrey Roosevelt Whiting I. Godfrey was a soul full of life and vibrancy, always ready with a smile and a snarky comment. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand if asked.

He always had a big grin on his face when he walked in a room and was ready for a laugh. He was a loved member of the community. Godfrey attended JJ Rhodes Elementary, Carter G. Woodson Middle School, and Evan E. Worthing High School. These were all schools located in his community which he loved, continually boasting about never leaving.

He worked in construction, a skill he acquired from his father, Artis Anderson, who also taught him a wide variety of skills from car repair to cooking! He was a workhorse and he always wanted to learn something new. His children, nieces and nephews adored him and were quick to "laugh" at something Uncle Godfrey did or said.

Godfrey was welcomed home on Sunday, March 02, 2025. Godfrey leaves behind to mourn him a son, Gavin Whiting, and daughter, Mariah Whiting. Godfrey also leaves behind, mother, Dawn Rosero (Moises Rosero), Artis Anderson and Charles Ray Foster. He also leaves his sisters Tracy Gamboa, Maya Whiting, Ebony Whiting, Jamie Melbert and Eloise Williams (Douglas Williams), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Godfrey's legacy is one of faith, family, and love—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those he touched. And we will always remember, "Gee loved the Hood!"
