Obituary

Golden Clare Taylor-Hill was born on September 3, 1952 to Clarence Walter and Fannie P. Goins Taylor. She lived in South Union all her young life and was a dedicated choir member at South Union Missionary Baptist Church under the original leadership of Reverent Percy B. Bryant and then Reverend Scott C. Watkins.

She attended Whidby Elementary School and Cullen Middle School. At the age of 16, she met and married Michael Ray Stevenson, to which a baby girl, Millicent Stevenson was born to this union. She went on to graduate from San Jacinto High School in 1971.  Golden worked at several jobs with her most memorable being: Dr. Edith Irby Jones, Bown & Root, and Southwestern Bell/AT &T, from where she retired.

Golden later became a member of Windsor Village United Methodist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, where she was also a member in the choir. She later met and married Brewster Stewart Hill, Jr. in 1997. During this union, they enjoyed traveling, going to the casino and being with family. During this time, she became a devoted member of St. John's United Methodist Church Downtown, under the leadership at that time of Pastors Rudy & Juanita Rasmus. She remained a member there under the leadership of Pastor Tiffany Tarrant until God called her home.

Golden was preceded in death by her parents. She received her wings on January 15,2026. She leaves to cherish her memory, husband Brewster Stewart Hill, Jr., Millicent Stevenson-Johnson (Gerrol); grandchildren: Mikaela Johnson-McMillan (Donnie), Gerrol Michael-Lee Johnson, III, Talia Johnson, Nalani Johnson; great-grandchildren: NaTa'lih and Nevaeh McMillan. Bonus daughters: Sidnie, Courtney and Whitney Hill; grandchildren: Christopher Hill-Huntley, Jamese Hill-Huntley, James Matthew Hill-Huntley (Janiya), Brittany Hill, Tre'Von Bullock, Takia Hill; great-grandchildren: Jayceon and Janyla Hill-Huntley, and Sincere and Sevyn Shelton. She also leaves to mourn her memories: brother in-laws (more brothers than in-laws): Oliver and Lynn Stevenson, Ellery and Raymond Stevenson, in-law: Deborah Johnson, God-sister: Lillian Bourgeois (and daughters Robin & Rene'), Cousin: MaryAnn Poullard, God-daughter: Sasha Poullard Bellow and special daughter: Olivia C. Davis and a host of cousins, family, neighbors, coworkers (who became family) and close friends: Lillian Joy Poole, Mr. Carlton Jolivet, Ollie Faye Freeman, Aquanette German, Joyce Bush, Wanda Mingo, Pat Smith, Esmeralda Johnson, Josephine Arnold, Cynthia Boxie and Robert Arnold
