The Life Story of Gwendolyn Faye Anderson Brown

Gwen Faye Anderson, affectionately known as Gwen  was born to Houston Anderson, Sr. and Lena Mae Lefluer Anderson on Friday, April 12, 1957, in  Lafayette, LA.

Gwen enjoyed her youth in Eunice, Louisiana, in a home full of love and laughter with her parents and 10 siblings. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age, and was baptized by Reverend John Wilson at the Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunice, LA

Gwen was educated in the public schools of St. Laundry Parish and was a proud 1975 graduate of Eunice High School. She ran track and was the first African American Majorette. In her pursuit of higher learning she attended Louisiana State University at Eunice and ultimately gradated from her beloved Southern University and A&M College in Baton, Rouge LA. Where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Later, studied toward her Masters Degree at Southern University.

Gwen began her teaching career at St. Landry Parish Head start Program in Eunice, LA. Her impact with children was felt in Eunice. While in Eunice she was active Southern University Alumni chapter member and the JK Hayat Foundation. She also taught 8th grade at Eunice Junior High School and in the Houston Independent School District. Later, she became the principal of the of Jesse Jackson Academy in Houston, TX.

Gwen had a servant's heart and was always giving in time and resources. Her pride and joy was her son Steve and granddaughter's Akeila and Taylor. More recently, everyone had to step aside for great- granddaughter Nyla Johnson. She was an avid reader and loved shopping. She was a loyal member of Lilly Grove Baptist Church in Houston, TX for 29 years, where her brother Reverend Terry Anderson was the pastor since 1995.

Gwendolyn leaves behind her only beloved child, Steve Wayne Brown (Princess); her grandchildren DeAndre Courville, Akeila Brown and Taylor Johnson (Nygel) and her  great-granddaughter Nyla Johnson. Her siblings Terry K. Anderson, Johnny Anderson, Charles Ray Anderson Sr. (Paula) and Valerie" Winkey" Anderson Leday (Francis);her former husband and lifelong friend Frank A. Brown and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents Houston and Lena Mae and her siblings , Houston Jr., Edmund Lee, Bobby, Steve, Carl and Douglas Anderson; grandparents, nieces and nephews.
