Gwendolyn Chase Guyton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She was born on December 1, 1962, in Houston, Texas to the late Odell Ross and Solomon Williams.
A woman of unwavering faith, Gwendolyn was a member of New Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church for twenty-seven years, where she faithfully served as an usher. She greeted all who entered with warmth, kindness, and a gentle smile, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed into the house of the Lord. Her service was not just a duty, but a reflection of her heart - humble, giving, and full of love.
Gwendolyn married Gary K. Guyton on February 21, 1999, at New Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. For twenty-seven years, they enjoyed a marriage of love and devotion. Her love for family and friends will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Odell Ross; her father, Solomon Williams; and her brother, Michael Chase.
Gwendolyn leaves to cherish her precious memory: her loving husband, Gary K. Guyton; her children, Ronnie Chase, Sr. (Jessica), Mark Chase (Tish), Torry Chase, Sr., Ken Chase, and R.C. Walker (Kierra); her stepdaughter, Chante Vandible (Charles); her sisters, Gayle Lewis and Linda Martin; her mother-in-law, Ruthie Guyton; her sister-in-law, Florinda Larks; brother-in-law, Don Guyton (Naomi); her beloved poodle, Midnight; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will continue to honor her life and legacy.
