Helen Jene Lacey-Matthews was born in Sealy, Texas on January 1, 1946, to Alberta and Dee Prescott. She moved to Houston Texas at an early age, where she attended schools in HISD and graduated from Kashmere High School. She was baptized at Lily Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and rejoined Lily Grove in her later years under the leadership of Pastor Terry K. Anderson. Helen was a legal aid secretary and cosmetologist, she retired from Gulf Coast Legal Foundation in 2013. Helen loved her family dearly. She enjoyed family gatherings no matter the occasion. All she wanted to do was hear her blues. She's preceded in death by her mother Alberta Prescott, Father Dee Prescott, sons Donald Prescott and Darryl Kossie. Helen leaves to cherish her memories daughter Cheryl (Roderick) Smith, son Kelvin(Chaun) Matthews, one sister Mary Simmons, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
