Obituary

Henry Thomas Hubbard, affectionately known as Dad, Henry, or Uncle Henry, lived life to the fullest. He lived it with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments. He embraced each day as a celebration, and spending time with him was always marked with warmth, humor, and a genuine connection. Though Henry has made a grand exit from this life, the legacy he leaves behind will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Henry was born February 19, 1949, to H.T. Lewis and Nealena Hubbard. He was raised in a loving Christian home where faith, discipline, and strong values were instilled at an early age. He attended public school in the Fifth Ward area and learned early on the importance of hard work, gaining from his grandfather a deep appreciation for the value of a dollar. At a young age, Henry confessed Christ and was baptized at Royal Terrace Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Strowmon Hubbard where he was an active member. He later moved to Sunnyside, where he attended and graduated from Worthing High School. During his high school years, Henry was known as a sharp dresser and was inducted into the Esquire Club, a testament to his confidence and personal style. Following graduation, Henry was drafted into the United States Air Force, where he faithfully served his country for four years. He was honorably discharged, carrying with him the discipline and pride that defined his service. After returning to civilian life, Henry began building a stable and fulfilling life through hard work and dedication. In 1975, he married Debra Lofton. He was also blessed with two sons, Colenzo "Rashaad" Hubbard, and Morris Tillis. Henry became a member of New Mt Calvary where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, finance officer, and sang in the men's choir. Henry is preceded in death by his grandparents: Stroman and Annie Hubbard; parents: H.T. Lewis and Nelena Moore; one brother: Wayne Smith; and brother-in-law: James Nelson. Leaving to cherish his loving memories are his sons: Colenzo "Rashaad" Hubbard and Morris Tillis; one sister: Iris Nelson; two brothers: Van (Carolyn) Smith, and Ronald (Darlene) Smith, Sr.; seven nieces: Katina, Erica, and Felecia Majoronne, Sha'Chloe, Tasha, Rachelle, three nephews: Van Jr , Kenneth Jr, and Ronald II; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
