Herise Nadean
Atchinson
Dec 16, 1930 — Jan 15, 2024
God saw she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be, He put His Arms around her and whispered, "come with me," with tearful eyes we watched her suffer and fade away, although we loved her dearly, we couldn't make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating and small frail hands came to rest. God broke our hearts that day to prove to us He only takes the best.
Herise Nadean Roberson, the daughter of the late Bobbie Wade-Johnson and Theodore "T" Roberson was born in a small community of Rusk County called Clover in Overton, Texas. Herise was raised by her grandparents Myles and Adeline Nelson-Wade. Her formative school years were spent at Clover School (London School).
In 1947 she met and married Attrell Conkrite. Five children were born to this union; Donnie Conkrite-Gaines (James) Tyler, Larry Wayne Conkrite – Houston (deceased), Lobbria Conkrite-Smith – Houston (deceased) Betty Conkrite- Houston (deceased) and Gerald Vann Conkrite (Carolyn) – Houston.
Herise was always busy she went on to finish college at Texas College, majoring in Home Economics and graduating Magna Cum Laude. She later taught in Lindale at Bragg Morris High School and Lincoln Junior High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Herise loved the north, especially the snow but she slowed down because of her health and her hearing. She was alone in the north, and decided she wanted to be close to her children and grandchildren since they all lived in Texas and in the Houston area. In 1982 she moved to Houston and moved into a Senior Citizen Apartment where she made many friends, especially Lula Chapman whom she always visited and talked with until her passing. After moving to Houston, Heiser joined the body of the Church of Christ where she was very faithful alone with her favorite cousin Peggy. After Peggy's passing Herise began to have heart problems and she knew it was a hard thing to live alone so she spent most of her time with her "Baby Boy" Gearald and his wife whom she petted and spoiled.
Herise lived a rich full life and on January 15, 2024, God took her home. Herise will be truly missed she leaves to cherish her memory one sister Dr. Veronica Roberson – Los Angeles, California, three adult children Donnie C. Gaines (James) Tylet, Lobbria C. Smith, Gerald Conkrite (Carolyn) of Houston and grandchildren: Kavorna Conkrite- Houston, Sandy Rogers – Houston, Gerald Mayfield (Toniqua) – Texas City, Robert Mayfield (Joselyn) – Houston and Shannon Mayfield- Houston; Shemica Conkrite – Missouri City, Keitha Duplechain- Missouri City, Marcus M. Conkrite- Houston, Maurice M. Conkrite (Laronda) Houston, Geralonda Conkrite- Houston, Larry Conkrite, Jr. – Tyler and Attrell D.
