James Earl Cornish, Sr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6,2023 at home, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering strength, kindness, and remarkable accomplishments. He was born on August 8, 1950, to James Harvey Cornish and Willie Mae Cornish of Houston, Texas and was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a man of very few words, and never raised his voice, but when he spoke, he meant business. His smile, support, and encouraging words will be missed. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at South Union Baptist Church. Upon his passing he was a member of Fallbrook Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael A. Pender, Sr.
James Earl Cornish, Sr. began his journey in Houston, Texas where he excelled in the HISD school district, graduating from Evan E. Worthing in 1968.
James proudly served his country as a dedicated member of the United States Army. His commitment, bravery, and sense of duty were evident in his service, where he exemplified honor and valor. His dedication to his country continued to inspire those around him long after his military service ended.
Following his honorable discharge, James pursued his entrepreneurial dreams and established his own successful trucking company, Cornish Trucking, and met Carolyn Roberts who became his wife. The two share 4 children Samantha, Tabitha, James Jr., and Ashley. His career in trucking continued to expand and J.E.C. Waste was established. His passion for the industry, strong work ethic, and determination propelled his business to flourish. Through hard work and perseverance, he built a reputable and thriving enterprise, earning admiration and respect within the community.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a man whose presence brought joy and comfort to all, he never had much to say. He was known for his wisdom, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends. His warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his five children Samantha, Tabitha (Marlon), James Jr. (Cassandra), Ashley, and Jamea, eight grandchildren Alexis, Tamera, Cameron, Keylon, Asia, M'kayla, Collin, and Sir James. One great - grandchild Kendalynn, four bonus children Cephus, Tonya, Thomas, Simone, and Shawna, four sisters Bertha, Joyce, Shirley, and Jeanette, one brother Jerry, and a multitude of cherished family and friends. His legacy lives on through the memories shared and the lives he touched.
