Reverend James Edwards, Jr affectionally known as "Man" by loved ones and close friends, returned to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 9, 2024, after battling a long illness.

James was born to the late James Edwards, Sr and Lorene Edwards of Shreveport La.  November 3, 1940.  He was the youngest of 2 children. He went to Seminary school earning a degree in theology and evangelized in many churches.  He worked at MD Anderson, Nasa and even ran a chain of convenience stores before retiring at MD Anderson in Research. After retiring in 2000, he decided later to venture into Security Services.

He loved fishing, music, talking about politics, sports, but most of all, James loved talking about the Bible and teaching the word of God.  He married Opal in June 2000.

James is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lorene Edwards, sister, Janie Foreman and nephew, Frederick Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife, Opal Edwards:  his son Laimont, 5 daughters:  Pam, Cynthia (Robert), Kim, Gelyse and June.  2 daughters with Opal: Pam Ealy and Christin Johnson.

Grandchildren: Brandy, Brittany, Laimont Jr., Chandler, Mi'Keesha, Bobby, Aris and Aki.

Great-grandchildren: Kaleb, Anaya, Nathan, Abigail, Daniel, Glorianne, Elijah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
