James Guillory Sr., affectionately known as "Junior" by his family, was born on June 29, 1942, in Jennings, Louisiana, to the late Olan and Laura Guillory. He peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, determination, and entrepreneurship that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
James Sr. proudly served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1967, exemplifying courage and dedication during his years of service.
James Sr. was married to Lou Anna Guillory for 47 years, and together they raised their beloved children, built successful businesses, and established a proud legacy for their family.
After moving to Houston, Texas, in 1963, he began working for the National Biscuit Company "Nabisco" as a route supervisor. There, he demonstrated not only his strong work ethic but also his visionary entrepreneurial mindset.
James Sr's responsibility for managing Nabisco grocery deliveries to local grocery and convenience stores sparked a vision within him— he believed he had what it took to be a store owner too! In 1973, he stepped out on faith, using creativity and hustle as his muscle, hocking everything he could monetize, and began the family's first convenience store!
James Sr. quickly set his sights on growing as a business owner and entrepreneur, embarking on a series of successful business ventures owning and building more convenient stores, buying, building, renovating and owning residential and commercial properties, all while showcasing his persistence, perseverance, and passion for business, providing for his family, and community outreach.
His many successful business ventures included the establishment of Quick Way Food Store (Cullen Blvd.), Karri-All Food Store (Liberty Rd.), Circle J Food Store (Cullen Blvd.), J. Guillory Construction, DCG Homes, and CenterPointe Hotels!
