James Lawrence White (Clekey) was born August 3,1952 to the late O.Z. White Sr. and Minnie Lee White in Houston, TX.

James accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at early age. He was a faithful member of Greater New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church until his death.

James attended Houston Independent School District and was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School in 1972. He continued his education at Wiley College in Marshall, TX, where he was a member of the track team and earned a degree in biology.  He was good, fast and would remind you if you didn't know.

James taught biology and coached football for one year at M.B. Smiley High School.  James decided to go to work for the family construction business until he was physically unable to do it any longer.

In 1975 James met Debra Ann Holmes and became one together for over fifty years and in this union a daughter was born Shalonda Vontrece White.

James leaves to cherish his memories a devoted loving wife Debra White, Daughter Shalonda Green (Henry), Grandson Kenyon Green, Granddaughter Kamirah Green, Sisters Betty Valentine, Pamela White, Marquilla Dixon, Connie Dixon, Brothers Jay White (Lynn), Wille Samuel (Alice), Ernest White (Sheila), Curtis Dickson , mother-in-law Mary C. Holmes, sister-in-law Pearl McKnight, Delaniece Holmes, Shelly White, Virginia Rhodes, brother-in-law, Ceasor L. Holmes, Larry Holmes( Letha), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, Special Goddaughter Marion McCants, Nalina Washington
