Jaylen Darion Johnson, affectionately known as “Jay Dog,” “J.D.,” and “Jay Rock,” was born on July 28, 2006, in Houston, Texas, to Robert “Bobby” Johnson Jr. and Sandy Johnson. He was the third oldest of four children and brought joy, energy, and laughter to all who knew and loved him.
At an early age, Jaylen professed his faith in Jesus Christ at Jordan Grove Missionary Church in Houston, Texas, where he served in the children’s choir. He later joined New Faith Church, where he recently recommitted his life to Christ through baptism, strengthening his spiritual journey and faith.
Jaylen had a deep passion for sports and was a dedicated and talented athlete. He played football as a running back, defensive tackle, and on special teams for the Pearland Texans, Beast Mode, Hitchcock Red Raiders, Pearland Junior High South, and Glenda Dawson High School. He also ran AAU track with Beast Mode, competing in the 400m, 800m, 4x200, and 4x400 relay events. In addition to football and track, Jaylen also played basketball while attending Pearland Junior High South. Jaylen was recently enrolled as a student at San Jacinto where he was on his way to join the Automotive Technology program.
Outside of athletics, Jaylen enjoyed being a content creator, fixing cars, repairing appliances, and attending Houston Texans football games. He loved receiving personal training, grilling, riding horses, jet skiing, swimming, cruising, and serving others in need. Known for his infectious smile and sense of humor, Jaylen had a special gift for making people laugh and lifting spirits wherever he went.
Jaylen was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and JoAnn Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving parents, Robert “Bobby” Johnson Jr. and Sandy Johnson; his siblings, Robert III, Christian, and Aubree; his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Cassandra Heath; his aunts, Sache’ Heath and Kenisha Edwards; his uncles, Jeremy Heath, Marcus Henry (Yolanda), and Brandon Nelson; his godparents, Christopher Smith and Jalisa King (Krisha); along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will deeply miss him.
