Jermaine Keith
Hubbard
Jul 14, 1981 — Jul 7, 2023
Jermaine Keith Hubbard was the baby boy born to Clifton and Gwendolyn Hubbard on July 14, 1981. He
was raised in a Christian home and at an early age accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Brentwood
Baptist Church. He later joined Ministers for Christ Christian Center and rededicated his life to God.
Jermaine connected everything in his life back to the knowledge of God's goodness and mercy that is
new every morning. He was a bible scholar. He recited scripture with ease and passion. He was a
prayer warrior and most of all a faithful servant for Yahweh.
Growing up, Jermaine attended Grissom Elementary. He was a true sports lover and there was no sport
he played and didn't receive accolades for. He then attended Dick Dowling Middle School and later
James Madison High School. This is where his love for football blossomed. He had big shoes to fill
following in the footsteps of his two older brothers, but he was determined to make a name for himself.
Lifting weights with his friends and teammates in the Hubbard's backyard was the highlight of his day. He
was a dynamic football player and was the area finalist All District Linebacker. He continued his
education and football journey at Ranger College becoming Ranger College's 1999 Freshman Player of
the Year. His journey continued to T exas A&M University Kingsville, and he later earned his Associates
of Arts degree in Business from Houston Community College.
Jermaine had a true passion for guiding and mentoring kids of all ages. He loved and adored his
children, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed every moment with the kids. He was often seen spending
time with the kids throwing the football around, playing catch, or racing with the kids down the street.
On July 7, 2023, Jermaine's job was done. God took him home that day and whispered,
"Well done my
good and faithful son.
" We will never understand God's timing, only that it passes by in a twinkling of an
eye. There was no time to say goodbye. He left without a trace. God decided it was time for him to leave
and go to a better place. He came and did what needed to be done. His love and memory lives on
through each and every one of you.
Jermaine is preceded in death by his mother, Gwendolyn Hubbard, his brother, Maurice Hubbard, his
grandparents, Zora Jones, Gilbert Hubbard Sr. (Minnie), Helen Coleman (Junius), his uncles Gilbert
Hubbard Jr., Melvin Coleman, his aunts Pearlie Mae Jones, Loretta Hall and his cousin Joshua Hubbard.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his father, Clifton Hubbard, his grandfather, David Jones Sr., his
siblings, Clifton Hubbard Jr., Angela Hubbard, his five children Derrick Nelson, Judah Hubbard, Zion
Hubbard, Kween Mathis, Jermaine Hubbard Jr., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
