Jesse Arbuckle,
Jr.
Mar 28, 1932 — May 5, 2024
Jesse Arbuckle, Jr. was born, March 28, 1932, in Richmond, Texas. He was the youngest of three children, fathered by Jessie Arbuckle Sr. and Mamie Jackson Arbuckle.
Jesse accepted Jesus Christ at a young age, through baptism and his belief in Jesus he was able to endure the hardships and civil unrest of our community during the early 1940's and 1950's.
He attended grade school at Frost Elementary in Richmond, Texas, and High School in Kendleton, Texas at Powell Point.
Shortly after, in 1949, Jessie Arbuckle Sr. moved his family to a small Houston area that we all know and love and now call home, Riceville. It was at Riceville Mount Olive Baptist Church where Jesse Jr, was a member of the male chorus and usher board under the leadership and guidance of Reverend T.E. Spiller and Reverend C.L. Miller.
In 1952 he enlisted in the Armed Forces, where he served and fought diligently saving the lives of many and defending our freedom in the Korean War.
On February 25, 1957, he met and married Arie Allen at Riceville Baptist Church and to this union produced six children; three boys and three girls: Charlotte, Anthony, Patty, Felicia, Alvin, and Alfred.
A family of eight took hard work and sacrifice to financially sustain stability. He worked for several banks throughout the greater Houston area. Years later, with only a high school education, he took a chance on himself establishing Arbuckle Hauling Services. Although Jesse Jr, did not have any knowledge about being a CEO he started a business that thrived and employed many members of the Riceville community. This business allows many of his peers today an opportunity to earn a fair living and prosper in the tight-knit community.
In his spare time, he enjoyed several hobbies. Fishing, gardening, photography, and raising livestock. Spending time with his horses gave him the most joy. At trail rides he was able to showcase his cowboy boots, his belt buckles with the letter "A", and his well-known hats that were incomparable.
Jesse Jr. was preceded in death by Father Jessie Arbuckle, Sr., and Mother Mamie Arbuckle; His brother, Clarence Harris, along with his sisters Dorothy Arbuckle, Johnella Bonner and Bernice Flix.
Jesse Arbuckle Jr. entered eternal rest with the Lord on May 5, 2024. Jesse Jr. will be remembered fondly with cherished memories by his wife of 67 years, Arie Arbuckle; Three loving daughters, Charlotte, Patty (Dennis), and Felicia; Three proud sons, Anthony (Inell), Alvin (Kosha), and Alfred; 13 Grandchildren and 14 Great grandchildren; Perry Ash, a loyal friend and neighbor; And a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
