Jimmie Lee Simonton was born in Rural Hilly, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, on December 25, 1941, to Eddie Simonton Sr. & Minnie Nelson Simonton. He graduated from Morehouse High School in Bastrop, La. While in high school, he played football & baseball.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Ivory Chapel MBC in Bastrop, LA. Jimmie continued his journey to Houston, where he attended Pure Light Baptist Church, where he was active as a deacon, a member of the male chorus. After answering his call, he preached his first sermon in 1988. He was a faithful member until the death of Founder/Pastor Joseph Brown Sr. He then became a member of New Spirit of Life Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of Pastor Charles Gaines, where he was ordained as a minister on October 6, 2002.
While at New Spirit of Life, he was involved and served in leadership roles for: Children's Church Ministry, Brotherhood Ministry, Greeters and Ushers Ministry, and Sunday School. He also participated in baptismal services, male chorus.  He also visited the sick and bereaved families. He was there when the doors opened and would not leave until the pastor left and locked the doors. He later attended Greater Pure Light Church, under the leadership of Dr. Darryl W. Broussard, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, taught noon bible study, part of the new members orientation, Brothers of Unity, and was armor bearer to Pastor Broussard. He returned to New Spirit of Life and resumed his previous roles in the church.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Simonton, and his mother, Minnie Simonton, his daughter Vera Simonton, his brothers Luther Simonton & Eddie Simonton Jr., and his sister Stella Bowie. He leaves cherished memories, with his daughters Kathryn Gray, Babette Simonton & Timiko Simonton. He will be missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his siblings: Linda Jackson and Lynn T. Nelson, Sisters in Law: Shirley Simonton & Carol Simonton, a host of nieces & nephews, cousins, and friends.
