Joshua Bill Meadough, Sr. was born to Bennie and Minnie Meadough on April 18, 1946, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from Viola A. Harris High School in North Little Rock in 1965.
He went on to attend Shorter College on a track and basketball scholarship. In 1968, Bill transferred to Paul Quinn College, in Waco Texas, where he earned numerous accolades in track and field and basketball and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1969.
After relocating to Houston, Bill became a teacher and coach with Houston Independent School District ("HISD"). Throughout his tenure with HISD, Bill impacted countless lives, students, players, and co-workers alike, while teaching and coaching at MC Williams HS, Cullen MS, Dowling MS and finally Sterling HS. He retired from HISD after 36 years of service.
Bill was married once to the love of his life, Barbara A. Meadough his wife of 54 years, and that union was blessed with 2 children, Erica Michelle and Joshua, Jr. Bill peacefully folded up his tent and gained his wings on October 21, 2024, and is now resting in power in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bill was a faithful member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, where he attended regularly for over 50 years and served as one of the first regular drivers for the Mt. Hebron transportation ministry.
Although Bill will be missed, his extensive legacy will continue to live on. Bill leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife (Barbara), his children (Erica and Joshua, Jr.), six grandchildren (Cailen Graham, Jaylen, Julian, Joshua, III, Judah and Journey), two brothers (Bennie Meadough and his twin Caleb Meadough of North Little Rock, Arkansas), two sisters (Betty Butler, and Mary Ann Meadough, both of North Little Rock, Arkansas), and a host of family, former students and players and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
