Leon Douglass
Denley
May 5, 1947 — May 26, 2025
Leon Douglas Denley made his graceful entry into the world on May 5, 1947. He was one of three children born to Clay Steiner Denley and Leona Marie Wiseman Denley. Leon accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He graduated from Riverside High School in Columbus, Texas in 1965. After high school, Leon attended Prairie View A&M University and eventually joined the U.S. Air Force. After returning home, he worked for Thorpe Products initially as a truck driver but was promoted to warehouse supervisor until his retirement after 26 years of service. Leon rededicated his life in 1999 and was baptized and became a member of House of Prayer and Life under the leadership of the late Pastor C.B. Arnold. In 2012 he became a member of Fountain of Praise under. Pastor Remus and Mia Wright. Leon was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend, and neighbor. Leon was married to his loving and devoted wife, Marcia Sandle Denley, for 49 years. While supposedly being retired Leon helped the wife whom he loved so dearly with her baking business by making store runs, mixing batter, slinging flour making icing, boxing cakes, setting up events and greeting customers, etc. What a MAN! He loved sitting in his garage daily and was well known and loved by his neighbors. Some of the kids used to miss the bus sometimes on purpose just so he could take them to school. He spoiled everybody especially his wife. He was a man of honor and transparency! He leaves behind a family and community forever blessed by his presence. Leon and Marcia celebrated the lives of their two handsome sons, Trey and Anthony Denley. Leon is also remembered by his sister, Hattie L. Denley-Collins (Robert), his grandson, Alex, and his nephews, Courtney Denley and Kelvin Evans. He will be cherished by his many other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Leon was preceded in eternal life by his parents, Clay and Leona Denley; two brothers, Albert and Raymond; one sister, Estella Washington; mother-in-law, Jessie Mae Collier, and his nephew, Najah Lamont Denley.
